Carrie Anne Fleming
Carrie Anne Fleming was a beloved Canadian actress whose warmth, talent, and radiant spirit touched everyone she worked with across more than three decades in film and television.
Born on August 16, 1974, in Bear River, Nova Scotia, and raised in Victoria, British Columbia, Carrie discovered her passion for the arts early in life. As a child she trained in drama at the Kaleidoscope Theatre and in dance at the Kidco Theatre Dance Company, laying the foundation for a career defined by versatility and dedication. She began her journey into the industry through modeling before landing her first onscreen role in the TV series Viper in 1994.
Carrie's career unfolded primarily in the vibrant Vancouver production scene. A pivotal breakthrough came in 2005 when director Dario Argento cast her in the title role of "Jenifer" for the cult anthology series Masters of Horror — a demanding, physically transformative performance that required hours of prosthetic makeup and earned the admiration of filmmakers including Quentin Tarantino. It established her as an actress of remarkable range and fearlessness.
Genre fans came to know and love her through her appearances on Supernatural (The CW), where she played Karen Singer, the wife of beloved hunter Bobby Singer. Her character's haunting backstory — killed while possessed by a demon — became one of the show's most emotionally resonant threads. She appeared in the series across three episodes between 2006 and 2011, opposite Jim Beaver, who became one of her closest friends.
From 2015 to 2019, Carrie brought humor and heart to the role of Candy Baker in all five seasons of iZombie, earning a devoted following among the show's passionate fanbase. Her television credits also included The 4400, Stargate SG-1, Smallville, The L Word, Motive, and Supergirl. On the big screen she appeared in Good Luck Chuck (2007), Married Life (2007), That Burning Feeling (2013), and Rememory (2017), among others.
Equally at home on the stage, Carrie performed in British Columbia productions of Noises Off, Romeo and Juliet, Steel Magnolias, and Fame, demonstrating the breadth of an artist who never stopped growing.
After completing her run on iZombie in 2019, she stepped back from full-time acting — but never from the spirit of generosity and joy that defined everything she did. Her co-star and dear friend Jim Beaver remembered her as "a powerhouse of vitality and goodwill and amazingly good nature, with a rapturous laugh and an utterly adorable personality that didn't seem to have an off switch."
Carrie Anne Fleming passed away on February 26, 2026, in Sidney, British Columbia, after a courageous battle with breast cancer. She was 51 years old. She is survived by her daughter, Madalyn Rose, known as Max.
She was a beautiful soul — inspiring, kind, and irreplaceable. Her light will endure in every role she left behind, and in the hearts of everyone fortunate enough to have known her.
