Thomas William Mitchell
March 14, 1952 — January 12, 2024
"A devoted husband, loving father, passionate reader, and friend to all who knew him."
Биография
Thomas William Mitchell was born on March 14, 1952, in Portland, Oregon, to William and Dorothy Mitchell. From an early age, he had a deep love for books and storytelling, often found reading under the old oak tree in his family's backyard.
After graduating from Lincoln High School in 1970, Thomas went on to study Literature at Reed College, where he discovered his passion for poetry. In 1976, he married the love of his life, Margaret Collins, and together they built a warm and welcoming home.
In 1990, Thomas fulfilled a lifelong dream by opening a small bookshop in downtown Portland. The shop became a beloved gathering place for readers, writers, and anyone in need of a good recommendation and a warm conversation. He ran it for twenty years before retiring in 2010.
Thomas is survived by his wife Margaret, daughter Sarah, son James, and four grandchildren. He will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
